Foundation Phase

Our aim is to provide all children with an exciting learning environment in an atmosphere of gentle encouragement and emotional warmth.

We lay the foundations upon which your children build their school career and indeed their adult lives.  We are committed to supporting and encouraging your children's development, providing them with the very best possible start.  All children are part of a small community at Oakleigh House which enables them to be nurtured, providing security and developing confidence.

The curriculum for Reception, Years 1 and 2, has been developed under the headings of Foundation Phase;- Language, Literacy & Communication, Mathematical development, Knowledge and Understanding of the World, Physical development, Creative development and Personal Social development.

Positive attitudes to learning are encouraged and a thorough grounding in all academic areas established.  Particular emphasis is placed on reading which is considered the cornerstone of each child's academic development.
