Nurturing Healthy Habits

School catering is provided in partnership with Thomas Franks Ltd. All food is fresh and locally sourced to create a delicious series of menus which are seasonal, healthy, balanced and nutritious.

At Oakleigh House we believe that providing our pupils with healthy choices at meal times is very important. Pupils eat together in the colourful dining hall. Hot lunches for all are freshly prepared daily in the school’s own kitchen.

Thomas Franks’ ultimate goal is to inspire children to develop a life-long positive relationship with food. All recipes have been specially developed with controlled amounts of fat, salt and sugar to ensure that each child has the correct balance to be healthy, alert and able to cope with a demanding day at school.

Catering to Individual Needs

Our Chef Manager, Kevin Latham, goes to great lengths to create nutritionally balanced meals. All pupils enjoy a two course lunch with a wide choice of dishes, including a hot lunch with vegetarian option, and salad bar together with a choice of desserts or fresh fruit.

In addition, Nursery and Preschool pupils all have breakfast together and pupils who are taking advantage of the extended day are offered a light tea in Acorns Stay and Play.

Kevin is happy to discuss with you any individual dietary needs. Kevin and his team work hard to ensure that children with food allergies or intolerances, any special diets - gluten free/vegetarian etc. or those with special religious requirements are well catered for. If you wish to arrange a meeting please contact the school office.

Owing to the increasing prevalence of nut intolerances, no products that contain nuts or traces of nut oils are used on the school kitchen or permitted on the premises.
